Michael G. Phillip’s 20+ years of experience have come in private legal practice for major U.S. law firms (Drinker Biddle & Reath, Richards Layton & Finger), as an independent consultant (Verdantus Advisors, LLC), and from being directly employed by diversified financial services companies (Northern Trust, The Hartford) in several capacities, including chief legal officer. Michael also currently serves on the Advisory Board for an infrastructure investment advisory group (Parker Infrastructure Partners).

Michael is a CFA Charterholder and earned a BA (English) from Dartmouth College, a JD (Law) from the College of William & Mary Law School, an LLM (Taxation) from Villanova University, and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and as a Director of a Community Arts Foundation that founded and operated an arts-based Charter School. Michael is a member of the law department’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and recently developed and presented a multi-part training program to foster diversity and inclusion through the lens of art.
